Today my c6, 2005, manual, would not turn off due to a "shift to reverse" on the display. I tried everything to make it turn off but to no avail. So, I disconnected the battery in hopes that it would reset the system, but now it won't turn on ! I get clicking sounds but the engine won't even crank. Display now reads "service column lock". Any help would be appreciated it.
The signal for gear in reverse, starts at the reverse light switch on the trans, to the steering column lock module behind the dash, to the door release lock module behind the radio, to the BCM that will display on the dash.
So the problem may be a cheap switch in the trans (if GM can find a new switch to replace it*), to spendy if its one of the modules, or a loose wire they have to chase down instead.
