I don't know about you other guys but I love it when you get up into the RPMs and let off while slowing down and the exhaust starts popping. With my cut outs open it can get pretty load, just short of waking the dead.
One of the many things I love about the Corsa Sports I've had on the car since new . . . When you're really into it, letting off actually gets you that "crackle" that always reminds me of one of the favorite sounds of my youth: Sitting on the grass at Watkins Glen in the mid-1960s listening to the Sting Rays and Cobras back off for the turn. That, and the slightly higher-pitched howl at WOT add up to a perfect sound for me. There are some who don't like that "popping" when you let off the gas, but for many of us that's sweet, sweet music indeed. I've been fortunate enough to spend more than a little time on the track at the Glen, and it sounds even better from inside the car!
I know, I know, I need to change that. Why do they put an exhaust on that sounds like, well, nothing.
Save your money! corvette exhaust is one of the biggest scams going. I say yes to headers and X pipe but that is it. You can purchase a set of electric cut outs and your car will sound awesome. The cool thing is you can close them with the flip of a switch and your car is quiet again.
I like that also, but my favorite sound is up shifting thru the gears with the NPP fuse pulled. I usually shift around 3,500rpm. I pulled the NPP fuse the day I took delivery. Love it!

Plus you can save the money from a custom cat-back to help pay for the extra gas the stock system uses.
I call it the "burble". I look for hills where I can get up in speed going down the hill in say 3rd or 4th gear (6MT) and then let it coast in gear with the clutch out... burble...burble...burble... (with an occasional pop). Great sound...
I like the sound too. Brings back memories from my younger days. One word of advice: when you run with the NPP exhaust open and you do that by either installing a switch or removing the fuse, you are also going to run rich. The cars with NPP don't only get the cut-out switch, they get factory programming that richens the fuel mixture so when you're accelerating hard you don't go lean. This protects the engine, offers maximum acceleration capability, and is part of what makes the "popping" sound when you let off the gas (unburnt fuel burning in the exhaust system.) It also screws up your fuel milage, if that is a concern. And it will "coke" your spark plugs if done too often.
But once in awhile, just to be a bit anti-social, there's nothing like letting the folks know you're around

Hmmm... I posted a question quite some time ago and have read others with the question being "is it ok to run in the OPEN mode most or all the time" and the answers that came back seem to say YES. I have the Mild2Wild switch but I leave it in Wild most of the time. Are you telling me I should perhaps reconsider??? What more might it hurt other than spark plugs??? thanks... bob...
