The wiper blades on my 05 are torn and will not pass inspection. GM parts calls out the same part for both blades however the left blade on mine has a wing on it but not the right one. I guess that's to hold it against the windshield. I realize most on here don't drive their cars in the rain but for those that do, what blades do you use?
I bought mine at the auto parts store. I can't remember the brand but they are the single arm style instead of multiple hinged ones. They work just fine. Mine is a daily driver, rain or shine.
I daily drive mine, including on the god awful slip-and-slide roads we had during the snow/sleet/ice storm earlier this week. Last week I drove it in 8 inches of snow. Yes, you can all hate me, my black Corvette is mostly brown from mud now.
Anyway, the wiper blades straight up started falling apart on the drive home in the ice storm on Thursday, so I had to make an emergency stop at Advance Auto and picked up the only matching pair of 21" blades they had (Rain-X Weather Beaters). While putting them on, I discovered that the blades on the car were the originals (Jesus, my car was built in October 2004!).
Needless to say, the new ones don't have the spoiler on it. But today was sunny and 55 degrees, and the roads were thawed and dried, and I hadn't heard my LG headers sing in a while, so I can now tell you that the Rain-X blades weren't lifting up at high speeds, and that the spoiler probably isn't necessary unless you're tracking your car.
Thanks for all the info. I'm sure they don't need the spoiler but I looked at GM partshouse and they do have two part numbers and they are cheaper than cheap ones Pep Boys, so I ordered.
Ditto, Just go to a local auto parts store for the blade refill replacements (like under $8 for both blades).
The old blades will pull right off the arms, and the new blades slip/clip right back in. The refills will have plastic U clips on them, and leave the clips on the blades to let the arms push them off as you are pushing the metal blade back in the U slots of the arms.
