Radar detectors and radar based crash avoidance systems
I have an Escort 8500 and have noticed occasional strange alerts. I researched the bands used by the crash avoidance systems and they are in both the K and Ka bands. Any of you all notice this with your systems and heard of upgrades available for our units to eliminate these sources?

It is certainly a problem. I have considered turning off K band, but recently I have just become much more skeptical of K alerts, along with my proximity to other cars that might be producing the K alert. I have never encountered a Ka alert from an automotive system...only radar.

The only radar band that cars use for crash avoidance/blind spot assist/cruise control is K band. Your Ka alerts are a true police radar signal, satellite dish, or from a Cobra radar detector.
