OP left his computer on again and his buddies are drunk posting for him. At least that will be his excuse.
I agree that the reply wasn't 1/4 specific. For that I was wrong, but you can have a race anywhere, anytime. As a kid i would be walking along and someone would come up to me and say "race you to the door". Is this not a race? Just because it's not sanctioned does not mean it's not a race.

Agreed.

I know that "roll racing" on the street is popular. I don't do it because it's not safe (but that's a wholly different topic) and I don't believe it really determines which car is faster. I also know that there are cars that are faster than my Vette, which is fine with me. I have nothing I need to prove to anyone about my car, unless it's on the track, then I'll push hard to be faster than someone else.

I run mine hard at road tracks. I also run it in the 150 mph average speed class at BBORR, which means 140 miles on a closed two lane highway between 130 and 168 mph. That's pushing it. Of course, before you do that you'll need to install rollover protection, 6 pt harnesses, get new tires, buy a firesuit, helmet and HANS device, etc. You want the satisfaction of a race? Then race it for real, not fake "roll racing" on the street. Here, read this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...2013-trip.html then come back and brag about how you push your car harder than I do mine. I'll be waiting for the pics and video.
At no point did I ever say I drove harder than you but, from your previous replies you seemed to be against racing. Also, at no point did I say it was on a street. They have closed air ways for roll racing

Sorry, I assumed you were talking street racing. I'm definitely not against racing, I race mine hard and am okay with some damage from it. I wish I could race it more but it's a 4 hour drive to the closest road course, BBORR is only once/year and I have a job. My Vette has a lot of mods specifically for road racing, in addition to the required safety gear.

If it's on a runway, go for it.

When I get challenged on the street, my stock answer is "Okay, let's get on the interstate, get them up to 150, then punch it." I get weird looks. I wouldn't actually do it, but nobody has ever taken me up on it either.

Seriously, if you like going fast, find a road course with an open track day. You'll be addicted after one session. Just remember that speed costs serious $$$. My last set of tires cost me close to $3k and they won't last very long. New 6 pt harnesses every five years is expensive. A new helmet every few years is expensive. It never stops, but it's worth every penny to me.

As for the Shelby you hate, it's the wife's, and I'm not allowed to race it.

Depends on how far you are going to race and who has the most gas.

Maybe you need to re-read my post. I said take it to the track. I don't care what track they go to, drag strip, road course, oval, auto cross what ever, but these stupid rolling starts that are posted all over the internet are just that stupid.

the older ones are not that hard to take down...here's my ride against a 2009 with just a mid pipe. Filmed in mexico...performance mods in my sig with 1/4mi times for current setup. They aren't invincible. They are quick though (esp with bolt ons)

Only power adding mods I have are headers (PFADT) and a tune by HP Tuners...6spd non-Z51 and driver mod

you're welcome...I'm more of an advocate of "taking it to the track" (both 1/4mi and road racing/autoX) but I'm not going to be some "internet angel" and not say I haven't played here and there on the road.

If you look at the video there's not a vehicle in site in front of us and we are literally in the middle of no where for the run. This guy's GTR now puts over 600awhp down and after riding in it now I'm sure I'd lose. He wasn't happy with the result of this initial run and thought the "slow Chevy" was going to get a beat down.

Run was all in good fun.

Its all driver. I took out a 135mph trapping GTR at the strip a few months ago. He would have obliterated me on a roll, but he slept at the light and I don't think he could drive worth a damn.

and here's to "mexican" racing.

Sometimes I think people troll out open ended questions like this, just to see if they can stir up some noise.

Which is better, auto or manual. Which has a better butt, C5 or C7, and well...you get the picture.
