Default Weird window rolling down problem

Well just a bit ago I went out to the car to head to store. Roll down my windows and notice the passenger side is making a LOUD squeaky noise only when going down. It seems the window is a little bit slower going down than the driver side. Any idea what is going on? I mean its LOUD and somewhat hurts the ears lol. Very embarrassing to have someone ride with me and have that happen. It's never done this before.

That happened to me awhile back. Turned out that the window mechanism/track had to be replaced.

I've had both of the window regulators replaced. Good luck.

Well I had to do that in my old C5. Guess I may have to go that route. I do have a warranty on the car and they should replace it with no problem.

The regulator is the motor right? I want to say something inside the motor is what's making the noise. Never had that problem with then C5. Only thing was the wire cord starting fraying and it got stuck.

Hi Crazy,

If you would like us to check on your warranty dates, please let us know. We would also be more than willing to set up a case for you in our system and get into contact with your dealership prior to your visit. Please let us know if we can help! I would hate to have someone roll down the window in your beautiful Corvette and hear that sound!

The motor, cables and the entire regulator is one piece. They sell them on e-bay maybe you can see a picture of it there.

The motor is sold as part of the regulator? That's somewhat strange. The original motors on windows in many cases are pop riveted to the regulator, but they can be drilled out and just the regulator or motor replaced separately.

Now I don't know in detail anything about my Corvettes regulator/motor, but I'm just asking to get more info about this.

I'll just call up my warranty. Pay the $100 deductible to get the whole thing replaced. Shouldn't take but a few hours at the shop I take it to. Unless there is some lube I can put on it or at least take the door piece off and try to pin point the problem.

Hmm..This morning it seems it is not doing it anymore and is back to normal. I wonder if it was caused from the soap I used at the do it yourself place? Anyways it was a little foggy this morning so maybe it got whatever it is inside a little moist and caused the squeaky problem to go away?

If you're lucky, yes.
IIRC the entire inner door assembly's supposed to be sealed so no moisture can ever get in. IF true the motor could be going south because of moisture & whine was a sign? Time'll tell.

Good to have a warranty, isn't it.

It may also be the outside weatherstrip along the bottom edge of the window vibrating against the glass as it goes down. You could try putting the window down all the way and then do a very light wipe of silicone along the sharp edge of that rubber strip.

Only time will tell yes. I am sure the whole assembly doesn't cost over $200. I spent like $80 for my C5 one and replaced it myself. I mean I could do it myself, but why spend extra money and a couple hours doing when I can just drop $100, you know?

No way was the weatherstrip making that loud of a noise. It was high pitched and can be overheard with loud music. No rubber is going to make that noise against glass. I even tried moving the window back and forth to try to prevent the squeak, but did not do anything to stop it.
