Leaving out from Oklahoma next Wednesday. Planning to rent one of the Uhaul transport trailers, put our c6 on it, and drive to Mississippi. Leave my silverado, wife, and daughter at wife's dad's house, and my son and I take the c6 on the rest of the way to the race in Sebring, FL. I've used the Uhaul transport and it worked great when I purchased and hauled home my c2 recently. However, the '63 has a lot more clearance than the '05- has anybody managed to put their c6 on one of these trailers? Wondering if it'll even be possible due to clearance.
Years ago before I bought my enclosed trailer I checked the u-haul trailer and there wasn't the slightest chance my car was going on that trailer with the front end in one piece, pulling in or backing. I have heard some have used them but for the life of me I could not figure how.
Can you put the ramps on a curb or something to decrease the angle? My grandson in law and I will be in the corral on race day. Good Luck with the trailer deal.
Hey guys, I just got my ZR1 in town from Lafayette LA to Oklahoma City OK.
Uhaul will work but you need some friends. The car is very easy to lift up two inches to clear the front lip but need a driver with a very steady foot. The width is also a problem cause the car was so side. So make sure to center it carefully and get some towels ready to make sure the rims don't get scratched up. That was the cheapest route.
Also you will need to climb out of the window. lol
I had thought about driving the c6 over to the Uhaul place this Friday just to take a look ...but sounds like it may not work out. Might give me a good excuse to drive her the whole way!

We will be in the corvette corral as well. last year was our first year. My son's birthday is in march so we've decided to make the Sebring race an annual birthday tradition. He'll be nine this year, so we've got a lot of future Sebring trips ahead of us!

I think you should drive the Vette and let the women drive the truck in a caravan.
Ha! I'd like to get her to drive our '79 or '63 vette and follow, but that isn't happening...she only likes to drive her caddy on long road trips.
Look...if you have those cars you need an enclosed trailer and truck to pull it anyway. You can find a strip down 20' trailer for $4K or even a little less maybe. Problem is it's like towing a parachute with any small truck or large SUV.
I used it to go to the track. Here is what you need to do
Get the front of the trailer as high as you can back your truck up some ramps or onto wood
Next get some wood planks to extend the ramps
Then when you are on drive front wheels onto some wood to get over front lip
I got out through the door opening not the window
I also have a wide body that is really low with a carbon fiber splitter
See pics

+1 used a transporter to haul my GS home from the border. Just used my jack under the 2" receiver to lift up my GMC trucks rear end and the back of the trailer went down accordingly. Smooth ride on.
Also removed the front wheel "stops" b4 loading and installed later avoiding rubbing the nose shroud....
