I have a '62 but don't trust it for distance driving. I'm thinking of buying a '07 or '08 that I can take on the road. Looking for comments, suggestions or other input on pros and cons of the two years.
there is a bunch of threads on this very subject so you may want to try the 'search'.
For me an 08 was the choice due to many improvements made in that year. However, the 07 is no slouch and either car would be a great choice with depending on your choices of color, trans, and accessories available.
Everyone has an opinion but you need to get the one you want. For me,
the 08 vert was the best choice.
Like others have said, everyone has their own opinion. For me personally it's a no brainer. Always buy the very latest model you can afford, because the car is constantly being improved.
The 2008 was an especially noteworthy year...
The LS3 engine was introduced in '08, Tremec T6060 transmission, new steering system, the NPP exhaust option, improved interior on all models, All leather interior added (4LT, 3LZ) and probably a few things I left out.
I would definitely go for an '08 over an '07, no question!

If you're looking for a stock corvette, and plan to keep it stock, go with the 2008+. If you're looking for a modded car, it really doesn't matter whether it's 2007 or 2008. You won't notice the differences, I promise.
I was originally looking for an 08+ because of the LS3 and the T6060 transmission. However, I found an 07 that met all my other criteria, had some tasteful modifications and was at a perfect price point. That was an easy decision to make and I would have made that same decision today.
Now I have an LS2 that makes plenty more power than the LS3. Some say the T56 transmission is a better built transmission despite it being a little more notchy. I doubt you will notice much of a difference.
If you are going manual transmission, by all means go for the 08. Only a person that has not tried both transmissions could make the above statement. The 08 trans is far superior for ease of shifting.

I've tried both. Sure the T6060 is a little smoother in shifting, but not enough to make one superior than the other. If you're an old man with weak arms, then maybe you need that ease of shifting mod

I don't understand your logic???
A smoother, easier shifting tranny is just that...smoother, and easier shifting.
That makes it superior....period! A person doesn't have to be old, or weak, or any other adjectives you wish to spew.
The T6060 is simply a more refined, more desirable transmission.
Does that make the T56 a bad box, of course not, it's just less desirable by most standards. You sound a little ridiculous trying to defend the T56, by bad mouthing the T6060 as needed by old men.
And I am an old man. I hated the way the T56 in my 05 would refuse to go into first gear after siting at a light in neutral. And my buddies 05 was exactly the same. When I bought my 09 (because a woman ran a light and totaled the 05) and first sat in it, I could tell there was a world of difference in the way the trans shifted before I even started the engine for the first time.
You know as we'll as the rest of us that the best car is the lowest mileage, best cared for vette. Either year will be fun and I'd rather have a low mileage 2007 the a higher mileage 2008. Good luck.
I do too. I love the LS2, but if you can afford an LS3 with the miles and condition you want go with the LS3. If money is tight go with 07.
I love my 07 vert and have driven it on long trips with great comfort. It was what I could afford at the time. if I could have afforded an 08 at the time, I would have bought it. As has been said many times, get the newest one with the lowest miles you can afford.
Thanks to all of you. Didn't expect that much feed back. Think I'll go for the '08.
Hate to say it, but ------ My '62 and the Factory Five Hot Rod I'm building are all stick so I'm afraid I'm going to opt for an automatic with the '08.

I can't believe it....after all this input, you're going with a girly man transmission? Say it ain't so.
