Default Lifting position

I have a 2013, 427. I also have a 2 post lift in my garage. When I bought the lift I owned a 1996 collector's edition and didn't have a problem centering the car over the lift arms. With the new car, it is that much wider and therefore the car cannot be centered so that the lift arms are in position to pick up the car using the normal pickup points. What I have to do is pull the car up to the point approximately where the door hinge area is equal to the pillar on the left of the lift. I can then put the lift arms under the car and pick it up. The center of gravity is 51% front and 49% rear, so the center of the car is offset to the rear of the lift. The lift doesn't move when I pick up the car, but it seems to me that the car is not balanced. I was wondering if I could pick up the car using the crossbeams in the front and rear? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Are you placing the arms at the location where the jacking pucks go?

Yes. When I place them at those locations is the time when I can't center the car on the lift.
