Quick stupid tail light question, will take 3 seconds
When I got my 08 used, it had these stupid chrome things over the tail lights, and I took them off. But now I see this weird pad around the lights, I am like 95% certain its part of that, but just wanted to be sure it isnt a seal or anyting, before I removed it to put on the tail light tint.
That seal helps keep water getting behind the light and then dripping all down the rear. Leave them.

thanks, they gotta come off the for tint to go over them, I googled them after reading your posts, they are only like $15, so I'll just by replacements after I deced one whether or not I want to keep the tinted look
Might consider not removing those, bet there's one on every light.
They sure look like an aftermarket seal sold by a forum vendor, supposed to keep water out between light housing & mounting holes in rear. A genuine PITA, IMO.
Put 'em on my '06, they work pretty good.
Dripping's eliminated after a wash/rain w/ these things, no streaks down the rear from lights.
Assuming you'll take the lights out to do the tint (it only takes one screw) then drill a small hole, like 1/8" diameter, in the center of the dried up dirt puddle at the bottom. You'll never need the seals again, since the water will drain out the hole instead of down the bumper.
