Today I took my 2010 grand sport into Mavis to have my rear tires replaced. Only needed them to mount and balance tires that I purchased from a forum member. I don't know what I was thinking by taking my car there. Before I even went there I called and asked if there would be any problems with the size of the tire. I specifically said the tire was a 325 and the guy said no problem. I drop my car off and a few hours later I go back I see my car parked out front with the new rears on. When I get in the guy tells me he was able to mount but not balance the tires. Apparently they were too wide. He tells me he will not charge me for balancing. My response - no sh@t. How could you charge me for something you didn't do. Anyway I ask if he sells tires that wide and he says yes. Well how do you balance them then????? He just looks at me with a blank look on his face. Long story short I have to take the car to someone who can actually balance them. Any recommendations on Long Island, NY?

Long story short, keep your corvette away from Mavis in Bethpage Long Island!!!!!

IDK what the problem here is? Did you ask him specifically about balancing or did you think it'd be implied when asking about mounting? Seems as they didn't have a problem mounting them. Not a big issue, just find a place that does "roadforce" or w.e balancing. Installing huge tires is harder than balancing them, so you got the better half done...

I specifically asked about mounting and balancing. I just didn't want to have to go to 2 places. It was a waste of my time.

Have you given Dyna beads a thought? Use them in my motorcycle tires and they work great.

I have had 2 sets of rims installed there and a new set of tires too. They do road force balancing too. Not a mark on my rims ever. I would not go anywhere else. I learned the hard way just like you did! Tell Andre George with the silver Vette sent you.

I also had bad things happen to my Vette concerning a very bad wheel alignment at a different xxx discount tire location not so long ago. I suggest that you take them to a GM dealer for your tire balancing and wheel alignment. I am not able to give details but that is my suggestion.

At the GM dealer, if they screw up, you have recourse, at discount tire center, lots of luck.

Do a google search for Road force balance and you can search by zip code and find the closest road force balancer in your area?
