Is it really necessary to clear any codes that might be stored with a Tool, which i do not have.I do disconnect my neg cable every once in awhile, does that clear any codes?..Thanks
Many codes clear themselves. Some in as little as 3 ignition cycles and others need 50 to go away. That assumes that you don't have a problem that you failed to fix.

Why would you want to clear codes? They are there to diagnose issues and prevent further damage. Yes, if you have an issue and there are a dozen old codes it helps to clear the old ones and see what comes back. It does no harm to have a hundred old codes stored unless they are blocking some functions due to a specific issue.
For the second time today I will mention that disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it puts power surges into the car's computers which is not a good thing to be doing repeatedly.

I don't want to clear them (If I Have ANY)I had the CEL come on last year, but, just shuting it down & restarting it cured the CEL & it has not come back.I just asked a question guy! I'm one of a few that do clean my battery connections about twice a year....
