When I hit a pothole (New York winter problem) my left front speaker quits until I hit an other bump. I was told by a radio guy (who won't work on Vettes) that it is not a connection problem. Any suggestions?
Since the Bose speakers are a combo of speaker and amp, replacement cost 5-7 hundred so I prefer to avoid that. Could it be the cone gets stuck on the magnet? 2009 coupe
I am not sure why this would not be a connection issue, that's the first thing I would check. Take the door panel off and make sure the connections are solid before anything else.
I am having problems with both door subs with the passenger side being the worst.Waiting on the dealer to get replacements. Mine rattle more when you hit a bump. I also checked my amp part number and it is not the right part number that should be in the car.

The reason I'm asking for other alternatives is the installer, who knows those connections well, said that a connection problem is extremely unlikely. Since he believes it isn't a connection, dealers aren't great a diagnosing radio/speaker stuff. So any other suggestions?
why wont he work on vettes? dosnt have common hand tools and common sense? its just a gm car. nothing special. its not even a my link system. sounds like you need a new audio guy. im going to help my freind replace every single part of his stereo in his grandsport this weekend. Focal pro series speakers all around, Focal Sub, JL full digital 5 channel amp, top of the line Pioneer headunit. all new speaker cables and rca's right at $6k in goodies. I cant wait , this thing is gonna sound so good.
and im certainly no pro i do car audio for fun , do a install every few years or so. last one i did was my vette 1.5 yr ago. if i can do it truly just about anyone can.

If you don't want to take it apart yourself and you don't want to take it to a dealer, then take it to a good audio guy who has done installs in Corvettes. I agree that dealers are not specialists in audio and may not be the best at repairs like this. Many dealers send audio work out if they have a good specialist nearby. Many do this with tires, auto glass, upholstery etc. What we know for sure is that dealers don't actually repair radio units in cars, they either replace or send out for repair.
I agree with many above that there is no reason not to suspect a connection issue first...whether between head unit and amp, or amp and speaker. It makes sense to check the obvious and inexpensive possibilities first, before throwing expensive parts at it.
There are 100's of car audio stores on Long Island.
Use another one, or at least go for a second opinion.
If you have the $$, get rid of the Bose. It's shamefully bad. No highs. No Lows. Must be Bose.
