Default help with interior lights

Took my 05 out for a short drive and turned off the auto mode for the headlights. When I returned and shut the car down the reading lamps on the mirror would not go out and had to be turned off manually with the buttons. What have I screwed up? The other interior lights turned off after about 20 seconds. The buttons are extended out now- is that the off position? Thx for your help. Don

Ck the little button on the dash just above where your left knee would be in the driving position. You may have depressed it by accident.. Very common mistake. It determines the brightness of in interior lights.

Thx guys- I actually pushed the button on purpose hoping it would turn off the mirror lamps . Hit it a couple times actually and lights stayed on. If I turn it to auto mode before I start the car will everything be back to normal including the mirror lights? Do the mirror lights come on every time you enter or exit the car? I just never noticed them turning on with the other interior lights. Thanks for helping this dumb newbie!

Only press and release that button one time. It will not turn off all the lights immediately. It will just set the programming so they'll go off after the car door is closed and the car is locked (if autolocking is programmed or the fob is used to lock the car.)

I don't think going back to AUTO mode will do it.
