Default Windshield Sun Screens

I'm looking for your recommendations on a quality custom fit windshield screen for the GS.

Seems like I also read somewhere that the area of the windshield where the HUD display appears has some kind of special laminate material. If that's true, Will a reflective sun screen damage that laminate?

Thoughts?

I bought one last year that was custom fit and had the C6 logo on it but it's made out of an almost plastic material and it leaves a film on the windshield after a couple days. I have used various shades over the years with no effect on the HUD. Here in AZ we're about as harsh as it will get anywhere.

Don't have a GS, but I've used Covercraft Sun Shields on my '89 and '06 Vettes, as well as on an old Ferrari and the wife's daily driver Toyota. They're made from a material like felt, over a stiff backing. Always been satisfied with them. The one for the Toyota is just starting to fall apart but is over 10 years old. They really will keep the interior cooler and protect the dash from sun damage.

I have the Coverking with the 6c logo. I also bought a cheap sunshade and made 2 side window shades. Works great. Then i have one to stand up behind the seats. They block all the sun from the interior and no one can see in.

The cheap ones they stock at Autozone or Pepboys will do the job, nothing really special about blocking the sun on a Corvette. Of course if you want to spend the extra money there are plenty of other choices.

your avatar is missing an important detail: convertible or coupe?

IF vert like me:
I first bought a windshield cover that rolls up if not used, great fit and all BUT, too big rolled up to store in cabin.
so I got one that folds up when not in use, fits great behind passenger seat

Get the kind that folds into a circle. Fits behind the passenger seat back.

The previous owner of my car purchased one of these

http://www.mamotorworks.com/Corvette...shade-624097-1

While it's high quality and a perfect fit there is no way I would have paid that much for one.

In my other two cars I have the $10 version that I purchased from Target. They do the same thing.

I use the Covercraft sun shades on all my cars. They're a little on the expensive side but are very well made and custom fitted for what ever car you order it for.

I use Heatshield in a 650ic, and a Suburban. They are also custom cut by car model, and are excellent for fit, durability, and protection. They run about 40 bucks.

I was about to order one for my GS vert, then decided to search the forum for input. Now I will at least go check out the Covercraft products. The difficulty of where to store one in the vert is a real issue to solve, so the folding-circular version may be the best answer for that.
