Default New bumber

Hi,

I need to replace my front bumper on my base C6 and have the following questions

1: Will the Z06 style (with vent) front bumper fit the base non wide body C6 ?
2: Where is the best place to purchase this item and does anybody recommend pre painted ?
3: What budget should I allocate to this ?
4: Does anybody recommend a DIY project for such a thing (painting aside)

Thanks

The stock bumper cover with the fake scoop doesn't fit correctly on a narrow body. The fender lines don't line up right.

There is a company making a replacement with a scoop for the narrow body but I don't know who it is.

Don't buy pre-painted, the chances of a match are slim to none.

DIY without painting? Sure, it's just bolts and clips, no special knowledge or tools required.

The reason why I need to change the bumper is that my son, wanting to show off my the sound of my bassani's to his friends, accidentally popped the clutch in the garage and slammed into my cabinets. So now my hood is scratched and bumper cracked!!!! Should Take it to my local gm dealer and have them fix this? I know the hood can be painted but can the cracked bumper be fixed ? Would it cost less to just replace it ? Is it worth the effort to order and install myself from gm parts house or other and then send it out to prime/paint ? All those questions would require your input ? Here are pictures of the damages

Btw you can fell the crack/ dent from the bumper

I changed mine a while back. I used SIC Motorsports who used to be a forum vendor here. His name is Daniel.

I have a machine silver 2005 and had it prepainted only giving them my gas lid to match too. I like mine because it incorporates a chin splitter onto it as one piece but does create clearence issues. It is 3" from the ground in the front. Painted and all, I believe it was around a grand.

Ouch. At least your son is okay (less the *** beating). The car and the garage can be fixed.

If you're thinking about a new bumper and painting the hood, have you considered a full wide body conversion?

I was wondering what a bumber was!
There's a lesson in there for your son about showing off. Especially if you're letting him drive it. If so, I hope he's not turning off the traction control.

Just got a quote for from my local GM dealer and they quoted 1500$ for repairs. They will remove the front fascia repair prep and paint. They will also repaint the hood and blend to the front fender. Does that sound fair ?

Thanks

Just so we are clear ... he is not and will never be driving this car .... took me 40 years to get my first vette. As for the showing off ..

The photo. It's spot on and I have an 05. No fading differences at all. I guess I got very lucky.

Sorry, but I don't have a clue as to what the repair cost should be.

The thinking behind my original question is if you are about to pay $1500 out of pocket how much more does it cost to do a wide body conversion?

I don't know that answer either, but the guys that have done it should.

Humm last time I check full body conversion costs around 8K-9K with parts shipping and paint/labour. Can anybody confirm ? Parts alone are 6500$ on parts taxi ..
