I just had Xpel Ultimate installed on aprox 80% of my car. I agree that is something I would not want to do myself. Leave that one to the professionals...or at least the people who get paid to do it.
We are having Xpel Ultimate installed by a pro right now. The installer convinced me to go with Xpel based on his experience and the quality of the product. Can't wait to see how it looks when I pick it up tomorrow.
I cannot speak for current 3M product as I have never used it. But when I was researching all of the complaints of yellowing seemed to lead back to older 3M product. That is not to say the current 3M stuff will yellow or not. I'm just saying what I found...
That being said, the Xpel Ultimate is guaranteed not to yellow for 10 years. But, there are special care instructions you are advised to follow to prevent this from happening.
I have 3M VentureShield on all of the fenders, hood, nose and on the panel just in front of the rear wheels (Grand Sport). Then I have 3M Scotchgard on the head and fog lights. The installer told me he thought the Scotchgard was a little bit clearer, thus the reason he proposed it on the lights. VentureShield used to be its own company but 3M bought them a few years ago. So 3M has its own Scotchgard and now it also has VentureShield.
I've had it on for two years on my 2012 Grand Sport and it looks great.
I took a pretty bad rock hit in my passenger side headlight six months or so ago. It tore the bra but left no mark at all on the headlight. I had that one piece of clear bra replaced for $50 by a local installer.
I agree with others above that you should have a pro install it. I was there the day the guy came to my house and put the wrap on the entire front. It took way more skill than I own. Now, today, if I had the cut piece, I could pretty easily do, say, another headlight because the area is so small. But for a large area with lots of smoothing, etc., required, I would not attempt that...
Hey diitto, does the 3M clear bra have their stupid logo on it anywhere? I HATE the fact they put that crap on the window tint! Which is another easy sell for me to use Xpel Ultimate. LoL

I know that the VentureShield label is on the backing paper and I am gonna guess, though I don't recall for sure, that the 3M Scotchgard label is on the backing paper of that product as well... I still have some of the VentureShield as the installer left me a piece for grins. But I'm only guessing that the 3M is marked on the backing paper. Maybe someone else here can say for sure.
I have 3M Invisishield on White and it is hardley noticeable. I tried to take some pictures after it was installed and it did not show up in the pictures. You can buy the kits, but I let the pro's do it.
