Default battery issue

for the last few months if I let my car 2007 c6 sit and dont start it for 2-4 days the battery dies and I have to jump it. Ive taken it to 3 different different places to get the battery and alternator checked and both of them checked out fine each time. The only thing I leave hooked up is my IPOD. Does anyone else have the problem and more importantly any suggestion on what it may be and how to fix it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Is it the orginal battery? If so I would replace it no matter what the meter says, then see if it continues to happen.
If you don't want to do that unplug the Ipod and see what happens, can't imagine why that would cause the drain but it can't hurt.

You might want to pick up a battery tender and just plug it in when your are not driving it. Not sure, but the iPod may be the culprit.

no this is the second battery since Ive had the car since dec 2006. I took it to gm to replace it about 2 years ago, so its manufacturer battery, its really pissing me off though, I bought a 900 amp charger, used it last week, drove the car Sunday and parked it that afternoon, went to start it today and kaput.

Bad battery. 900 amp charger is not a tender.

Hmmm. That could be your problem. Presumably, you meant 900 ma?

were you leaving the IPOD plugged in before as well, or this is something new coinciding with the battery dying?

Not that I know electricity, but the normal method for finding a current drain is to measure it, pull a fuse, and measure it again. When that fuse eliminates the drain, something on that circuit is the problem. Somebody can give you the details of what is a normal drain, how long to wait before taking the measurement, etc.

And, of course, use a tender if it's going to sit for more than a week or two, and don't let the battery discharge too much.

I had a similar problem with my 2010 GS. Replaced the battery and everything is fine.

FWIW, My 07 has a 5 year old battery in it. Always keep a battery tender on it. Took the car on 350 mile day trip a couple of weeks ago. All was well. I noticed that the tender was blinking, saying 80% charged a few days ago. So I changed out tenders with my Harley, Same result. So I'll be buying a new battery in a few days

Just wondering, but why would leaving it in reverse cause the problem?

Once you're back under power w/ either new battery or recharged try this experiment: Shut-down car & lock it as you normally would. Stand there & watch if the 2 map lights located below rearview mirror dim & turn off after 20 or so seconds.
IF those two lamps remain illuminated then you've unknowingly depressed the dimmer/map lamp button on lower left side of steering column.
Push the button & if it's activated it'll pop out to its 'off' position.
Repeat 'watch' sequence to confirm

Hopefully it's something simple like this, many of us have done it because it's so easy to accidently depress that damned button with a knee or while detailing.
