Default windshield and HUD

After searching the past posts about this and finding a little bit of info, I'm posting this question: Is there any reason why a "non-HUD" windshield would not work? the cost is considerably less and i'm paying out of my own pocket. the wife's Maxima from 20 yrs ago had HUD and it worked fine with a regular windshield. Thanks for any and all replies!

Non HUD windshield will work, the display just may not be as crisp. I added the HUD display to mine and when the time comes to replace the windshield, it will be a HUD windshield.

non Hud will work just fine. as mentioned above it wont be quite as crisp but not anything that warrants spending the extra money on the HUD windshield. Just my opinion from personal experience.

I would get the hud windshield. I did a conversion on a car I used to have and it was a slight double vision effect, the reason is that the hud windshield is thinner at the projection point than the non hud windshield. This prevents the image from reflecting from the inside and outside of the glass. Your paying more for that part of the windshield, it makes a difference after having a hud from the factory on my new car, the picture is clear without the double vision effect.

First off, keep in mind that there is only one supply for the C6 windshields.

So on that note, you can pay the big bucks to the get the windshield with the GM printing, or pay a lot less for the same windshield with the GM printing polished off instead.

Knowing this, and now pricing for the Hud windshield with the Gm printing polished off, go with the HUD windshield to keep the HUD display crisp.

Just replaced windshield on my 2005 and there is a plastic mount bracket that looks ugly and supposedly on later models it is used for something, GPS or ?? Any insight anyone on what it's for?

Thanks. 🇬🇧
