Guys I ready to change my coolant on my 08.I printed out some pages that was posted a few months ago on DIY.Question:How do you get to the drain plug?? Thanks
The drain plug is in the lower passenger side corner of the radiator. Having the car in the air makes the job a lot easier.
On the ramps i can get my right hand on it,but, would have to use a tool of some kind to break it loose. The other thing is that if you drain it while on the ramps you would not get all of the coolant out (Adv, 2 gals) some guy said the jacked up the rear a little to get as much as possible??? Maybe I will have it done.I'm 70 young so it hurts to be wiggling around under the car......
Ok Guys:I said Hello" to all,Now,back to the question part. What is the SOP on the drain plug. This would be for vette owners 08 & older. One page i printed was from Dano 553..HOW"..CrazyHorse..

Cherokee,
I changed it my '08. I use a regular pair of pliers to unscrew the drain plug. It's a little awkward because you have to do it on your back "by feel" but it is possible. Feel it with your hand, and you'll eventually get it with the pliars. Once you break it loose you can unscrew it by hand. I was able to reach it w/o jacking the car up because it is so close to the corner of the car. You could jack up that corner (remember to use a puck), reomove the plug, and then let it back down to drain. It'll be a wet spot to lay in when you put the plug back in, but oh well.
I ran the car with the hose stuck in the fill cap for many minutes until clear water came out the drain hole in the bottom. After it all drains, you're left with about 2 gal of water in the block (I think - its been 2 years). Fill back up with 100% antifreeze and you'll be very close to a 50/50 mix.
I had a helluva time working the air bubble out and getting it take the full volume, but I eventually got er done.

I jacked up the right front & i can get my 2 fingers on it,but like you said a pair of pliers would do it.I'm gonna pull the tire off & that will give me a lot more room to get to it..Thanks for a FIX input..Crazyhorse
