ATI harmonic balancer install issues....helpful hints?
I purchased an ATI Harmonic Balancer that the dealer can't seem to install. I have confirmed I have the correct part number and sub components.
The problem is once it is installed, neither the AC and main drive pullies will not line up. They are off off by 3 ribs on the belt or appox 1/4 inch. The HB appears to be seated all the way.
The dealer used their "normal" Vette mechanic and when he could do not fix it brought in another from another dealer. The 2nd one had the exact same problem.
So, with all that said, any opinions on why the ATI will not either seat all the way or belts not align? Anyone ever have this happen?

FWIW I have a 2005 C6.
Do they have the shell assy completely installed on the hub? Is the shell installed on the correct side of the hub?
I know you said you confirmed the pt#, but, these are mine.... just in case
Honestly it shouldn't be very difficult for a tech to do the job or figure out why it wont seat all the way.
I've seen the wrong bolt used and bottomed out on the threads before the pulley seated on all the way.
I used The ARP bolt kit 234-2503, which according to ARP is the correct bolt. I know what I ordered, but it would be worth checking to make sure that is what I received.

Part used is 917246
Outer shell 917016CSX
A/C pulley 916734
Hub Assy 916032-M3
I did not assemble it, but tech said he followed Assy instructions. I looked at it on the car, and it appeared to be correctly assembled. The hub was on correctly (long side of hub toward engine) and appeared to be all the way on.
Well picked up my car today after the failed attempt of installing the ATI HB by the dealer. In the end I ended up with a OEM balancer, which is not what I wanted. Also got the honor of paying an extra $300 in labor for the failed attempt
Somewhat PO'd at the situation. The ATI HB was assembled correctly, and according to two seasoned techs it was seated correctly. I have triple checked all part numbers and the are correct.
At this point throwing up my hands as a mystery that can be grouped with UFO's and Big Foot.
I will soon have a ATI balancer for sale......ugh, smh!

If you are sure everything is correct, then I would contact ATI to find out what is going on. There are a lot of forum members including myself that have used this balancer with no issues.

I did, and was told to double check the component numbers which I did and they were correct according to the part stamps. Will call back tomorrow and ask for someone on the tech line who can maybe shed more light on the situation.
To be clear, I'm not saying ATI is at fault, but also can't see where the Techs were either. I do a lot of my own work, and sent to the dealer due to time limitations. I looked at it on the rack and the HB appeared to be seated correctly.
Right part numbers, assembled correctly, seated correctly, both pulleys off by 1/4 inch

Is this a GM dealer thing or what?... are they using retarded help in there???
It's the second time in a week that I hear about a GM dealer unable to instal an aftermarket HB on a C6..... (Hi Eric!)
I would have them take that OEM junk out of my car so quickly, they could hardly see it coming. Even if I had to get the car towed to a COMPETENT shop where I'd have the ATI installed.
Mine was put in with no trouble whatsoever. But not by a GM dealer.
Sorry about your ordeal.
