Got in my 2007 C6 today and had a hell pof a job moving the gear selector fron Park. After it did move I could only select neutral or drive. It will not go into reverse, park, or sport.
I dismantled the selector lever and can see that when the pad at the front of the lever is compressed it is supposed to operate a white plastic rocker switch that itself presses down a rod about 1/4 inch diameter. But this does not seem to wanto to move.
Any thoughts?
David.
If I am understanding correctly, that rod that doesn't want to move is connected to a cable that goes down and attaches to the trans linkage. The cable itself can go bad. If you are up for it, you can disconnect the other end of the cable at the trans linkage and then see if the cable is the problem. It is simply a bigger version of a bicycle brake or shifter cable...woven metal cable inside a flexible metal sleeve. Lubrication inside the sleeve can help sometimes.
