Hello all, I purchased my first Vette about 6 months ago, she now has 49k miles on her and she's already starting to show problems. She is a 2007 z51 coupe, with manual transmission. Recently, my first issue was the, apparently, extremely common harmonic balancer issue. Well I got that replaced this week, but after I got my car back, my HVAC system is not blowing properly. If I have the air on the dash vents everything works fine, however any other setting, floor, mixed dash/floor, def/floor, it only blows out the defroster vents. Everything remains cool fortunately. Normally I would think this is a vacuum issue of some sort, but I'm just not sure if the C6 vettes still use this type of system. I did a quick check under the hood and wasn't able to see much of anything going through the firewall either. With everything heating up recently I would really like to have a proper working system.
I apologize if this is a common issue, but I searched around and the only things I could find were pertaining to the C5 or earlier.
Take it back to the dealer that installed the balancer. If they disconnected the battery it may have to be reset.
First look in the manual for action rdequired when battery has been disconnected..

Obviously can't diagnose your problem for sure but......"usually" an inability to control where the airflow comes out indicates one or more failed actuator(s).
Since this apparently just started after the shop visit you might want to try a very long shot fix, disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes. When reconnected, start the car and let everything reinitialize. Maybe the HVAC and actuators will get back in sync. And if you disconnect the battery you will definitely have to reinitialize the window indexing.
The worst case, if it is one or more actuators, the replacement at a dealer involves removing the entire dash and typically runs around $1500. So, think about the fact that there are 4 actuators in there. If you have to pay all that labor to replace one, you would be well ahead to replace all 4 at once because the others will fail too. The extra cost is only about $200 for parts.
I would try to reset the actuators. unplug the battery and wait @ 10 minutes. when you reconnect it, start the engine and DO NOT TOUCH the climate control. after 5 minutes move the temp on one side at a time from cold to hot, waiting @ 5 minutes between changes. do 1 side of the car at a time. then change the mode. if that does not work you will have to take it in and have it reprogrammed.
this works on tahoes when batteries are changed and the climate control goes NUTS
