GM message said GM will replace 08-13 ones also. Looks like the new trucks have issues also.

Yeap.

From the link provided:

The second safety recall covers 111,889 Chevrolet Corvettes from the 2005-2007 model years for potential loss of low-beam headlamp operation Models from 2008-2013 will be covered under a Customer Satisfaction Program. All repairs will be at no cost to customers

So GM says the problem is still an issue on 08-13 but won't fix them unless there is a problem which means I lost my headlights at night. I hope our GM customer rep chimes in. This may be the last GM car I own. Even their new trucks have issues such as tie rods falling off because their union employee didn't do their job.

They will probably use some kind of white, comb looking thing to hold the wires together so that they wont separate. Then it still wont solve the problem. Oh wait, that was another recall.

Do you drive your car on dark rural roads where the loss of light would leave you blind for a few seconds? If not then it probably wouldn't really affect you even if it happened.

I am not enamored with unions but how do you know it was an union employee that caused a problem? The issue could just as easily happened due to a torque wrench not being calibrated correctly due to an error in design paperwork or an issue with the tool issued to the worker that wasn't detected until they found tie rods that weren't torqued correctly. Not all the people responsible for doing those jobs correctly are union employees. Probably, most of them aren't. Of ten workers involved in the job of making sure the tie rod is torqued correctly probably the last two in line are union workers everybody else from the design engineer down was an exempt worker.

Here's a question: When will GM repair my 2008 Corvette if I have the headlight problem, say in 2018. They keep making these parts indefinitely?

If people here are so non-Union, why buy and drive a car built in Bowling Green Ky. by American Union Labor?

OK, so I guess you shouldn't have even replied to my comment because it was not about Corvettes Seriously though I don't mind getting off track because if I don't want to follow the thread , I just don't.

A Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) is enacted to modify a vehicle in order to provide a non-safety related product improvement after delivery of the vehicle. Involved vehicles are identified by VIN and affected customers are formally notified of the CSP.

I am guessing it is not dangerous enough when failing.

I'm glad this recall is happening after reading about the issues on this forum. This needs to be fixed and I'll let them do mine even though I haven't had a problem.

Legit question...Let's say I spent $1139 at my local dealership in February of 2013 to get both HID ballasts replaced on my 2005 because they both went out and I couldn't drive my car past 6pm (without blinding everyone with the high beams)...would they reimburse the money spent since they're now acknowledging it was an issue?

I wonder if your ballasts were fine and they just replaced the wire? Honestly what's the chance that both ballasts go out?
