Hi, This past weekend, for the first time on my 2 year old 2012 GS, I put a little bit of Adam's VRT Tire and Trim Dressing on the trim pieces at the top of both doors.
And over just a portion of the trim piece (not all of it but just maybe 1/3 of it) I now see what you see in the attached picture. Clearly I did this and the piece didn't look that bad before I started. Likely I just didn't wipe it off or in very well... But before I make a bigger mess I wanted to ask what folks suggest (or is Adam's Super VRT ok??) for these plastic trim pieces??? The car isn't out in the sun a lot. It's usually in the garage and covered but I had noticed a little whitish color on these parts, thus the reason I tried the Adam's for the first time on these parts just the other day. But something didn't work.
Suggestions??? see picture. Look at the whtishi blobs or spots on the trim piece. thanks bob
I use Adams all the time and have never had a problem. My questions is have you waxed the car before and did maybe some wax get on those pieces? If so, you will need to clean them first with something that will remove the wax and then apply again.
I have found that Super VRT is not really a cleaner but more of a protector.
If you put in on before you polish or wax, it will keep those products from getting onto those pieces.
i had the same pblm, mine looked really bad discolored..., i ended up wrapping it with vinyl...that piece is semi hard rubber, i would just prep it and paint it..pretty easy to do..the piece comes off really easy...
I use Adams and I don't have this issue. As mentioned try cleaning them and then reapply the VRT. Use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the trim pices and then the VRT should be fine.
I have used Mr Clean Magic Eraser on those parts to remove the white residue, followed by Aero 303. Don't use the magic eraser on painted surfaces, it will scratch.
