Default help getting **** off auto trans

I have read the posts but I can't get the **** to budge. The boot is down so there must be a trick to get the **** off. BTW, it's an A6.

I just removed mine for the first time this weekend. I put the car in neutral and then grasped it with both hands and pull straight up hard. I do mean HARD!!!! That sucker is stubborn, but it will come out. You don't have to pull in on the trigger either.

Step 1: Put car in ACC and shift to Neutral.

Step 2: Grab base of shaft just below shifter and rotate it to the 2' o clock position. Don't confuse the factory zip tie with the large locking ring below.
(disclaimer; vehicle in video already has a DSV shifter boot, You'll have to pull radio bezel to replace the shifter boot).

Step 3: Use a bit of force and grab the head of the shifter shaft and pull up. This should release the shifter, if you have a factory boot it will not release the locking ring.
(Disclaimer; easy way to remove locking ring from factory boot is to pull the radio and pull boot up from around shifter and grab some snips to cut the factory zip tie. At this point it would be a good idea to replace the factory shift boot.

Step 4: put new shifter and locking ring together leaving the locking ring at the 2 o'clock position. Slide shifter down on shaft. Once in place turn the locking ring to the 12 o'clock position to lock in place. Remove the cap and trigger from old shifter. (remove cap by using finger nail or small blade screw driver at bottom and pry up slightly and it'll pop right off. Trigger pops right out) Put trigger into new shifter first and then place cap on top.

Step 5: If you have a DSV boot then all you have to do is slide up the elastic O ring over indentions and done. If you have factory boot then you need to go from under neath and re zip tie it.
