My 2008 AC Delco just died. Some where I saw that this battery is sealed. That is the gases/fumes do not come out of the battery but are reabsorbed inside the battery.
When I read the info on the Optima red top it is a vented battery, the yellow top is vented to some extent with a relief valve.
Called Autozone and they tried to sell me there Duralast Gold which is vented battery. Tried costco and they no longer carry the Group 35 battery. Called O'Reilly and they knew their Group 35 battery was vented. Found one Group 35 sealed battery at a local parts house but the hold down isn't the same so the battery is loose left to right.
So the question is: Is the OE AC Delco a sealed and unvented battery?????

PS I did search a bunch of threads for the answer to this question but NADA.
Most if not all lead acid batteries have a one way vent to let out any gasses during heavy discharge. Although they are called "maintenance free" because they are sealed and you can't add any liquid they don't last forever. You got a good run for the money. Buy whatever battery makes most sense to you and your budget and don't worry if it is "sealed". Not sure that you will find one that does not have a vent even if they tell you it is sealed.
