I was thinking about getting a simple code reader for my '08 to diagnose my current CEL...and discovered that there is a whole world of monitoring possibilities besides just reading and resetting codes.
I have both an Android phone and an iPad, and see that there are lots of apps and hardware available to transmit the codes and real time info from the OBD II connector via wifi or bluetooth.
I would like to use my iPad if for no other reason than the screen is much larger, if the Apple platform hardware/apps are good. Does anyone have a recommendation on specific apps and/or the hardware required to do this?

I have a bluetooth code reader. I use it with the Torque free app for Android. Have used on my phone and a tablet. It has some features I did not investigate fully but it gave me the codes and the ability to clear them.
I use Torque (& DashCommand) on Android as well (phone & tablet) with a descent bluetooth dongle. However, the unit won't connect to anything Apple. On Android it works really well for code reading and resetting, as well as setting up numerous real-time display gauges. Search on Amazon, etc for an ELM327 bluetooth device.
