Are you a hot young chick driving a Vette?? If not, either move over to the slow lane (right lane) until they pass or punch it and get the hell outta there! If you are a hot young chick driving a Vette ,WE NEED PICS!!
I get tailgated a lot too.. slow, fast, speed limit or not. I think some want to look and are fans like you and me (they might have a vette in the garage!) but others are just trying to see what these machines can do.
On a related topic… last night I was driving through midtown - a high foot traffic / popular area in Houston and come to a red light at possibly the busiest intersection there. After coming to a stop, I signal and make my turn at average speed. Then immediately I hear tires squealing like crazy, and there's this hood rat impala behind me trying to impress people outside/catch up to me, and i'm just thinking "oh great"… when all of a sudden what is that ?? A cop lights him up IMMEDIATELY and pulls him over not 10 ft from the incident. Instant gratification and glad it kept him away from my baby
Actually, I believe many tailgaters believe that we(corvette owners) have radar detectors and if we are speeding, they are safe driving up our asses. And yes it is terribly annoying.just my 2 cents.
I have only had the car about three weeks now and have experienced an abnormal amount of tail gating. It's almost as if they want to get a better look at the car or something. I usually just nail it and open up some space, then 3 minutes later there they are again riding up my bumper!!! Does any one else have this problem? WTF??
Without a doubt, people tailgate my Vette more than anything. In my truck, because people can't see around me they tailgate preparing to pass, but in the Vette I don't understand it. I'm normally cruising faster than everyone else, yet I attract them.
This is the best advice to deal with them. Seriously you don't want a tailgater behind you anyway. As long as you are not a left lane cruiser like many Americans are then you shouldn't have to deal with them.

One thing about the vette that I like, is that most times the passing lane usually clears out in front of me on just about any interstate. People riding with me notice it too.
I don't know if it is because of the yellow approach lights, but for whatever reason, I like it
I also rarely get anyone trying to mess with me either, maybe here in in my part of Florida the drivers are in the vacation mindset on the highway
I think that because the back glass is SO close to the rear of the car, it SEEMS as if other cars are closer than normal. Whenever I back into a parking space and I think I'm about to hit something I get out and look to find I'm actually still 5 feet away.

Happens to me every tome I'm out. Young woman are the worst, they get so close you can't even see their headlights.
A for sure way to get rid of a tailgater is to get out of the left lane.
U.M.
Sometimes you're in the only lane there is and you're 5-7 MPH over the speed limit. Just like turn signals, seem to be more and more drivers not using them.
Something about the Corvette riles people up! I see them come up behind me at high rates of speed, maybe they want to get close to "greatness" If they're on top of me at a red light I give em a dirty look in the rear view, when the light turns green I drive the speed limit or a tad slower to confuse them.
I think it looks worse than it really is because of how low the car is to the ground. But I notice the same thing. I usually just move over and let them pass. But every once in a while, I will give it some gas and move way ahead just before i move over.
The other thing I was just considering is the close proximity of the rear of the car to the driver's seat. The back of the car is "RIGHT THERE" 3 feet from where we sit!! It looks closer than it is.
