Vegas road trip
In Las Vegas now for a mini vacation. For those who can get here, you really should try to make a run through Red Rock Canyon. 12 miles from Vegas and a really spectacular drive. Nice freeway out there. The canyon is a 12 mile scenic drive through an amazing canyon. Many turnouts, parking lots and restrooms. Each lot has hiking trails if you are interested but the drive alone is worth the trip. Perfect one way road through the park.
On a side note, we stayed at the South Point Hotel and Casino. Beautiful hotel right off of the freeway. 7 story parking structure with 24 hour security driving through it. We went up to the fourth level and there were only about 20 cars in a level that could hold 400 plus vehicles. Most of the cars up there were nice Cahllengers, Mustangs, various hot rods, etc. No door dings up there and there were still three levels above that one. Felt very comfortable leaving our Corvette here for the 2 evenings. 3-1/2 hour drive here in 100 degree temps and we got 29 mpg and the coolant temp ran around 195 to 205 the entire trip. Anybody heading toward Vegas should make this 12 mile scenic drive even if it is in a rental car or your DD.

A couple of years ago my wife and I were in Las Vegas and rented a convertible Vette for a couple of days and did the same trip, it is one of the nicest rides we have done. That was my first time driving a Corvette and got hooked right away, needless to say that a short time after getting home( on my wife's insistence) I bought a 2007/Z06 with 12000 mile on the clock. Sorry about rambling on but I highly recommend the drive.

Take a drive up to Mt. Charleston. There's a nice restaurant at the top. If you have time go north past LV Motor speedway to Valley of Fire. If you liked the Red Rock drive you'll love that.

Beautiful pictures HB. Happy to her it was a great trip.
In the top picture I see the Wifey. Like mine she's probably thinking, "He takes more pictures of this car, then he does on me".

I told her I was going to stop to take a picture. She started to get out. I told her "you don't have to get out". She looked surprised. Didn't realize what a dope I was until it was too late. She was laughing when I got back in the car.

If you have time, go to Pahrump and see Spring Mountain School and Race Track. It is on the right before y0u get to town.

Notes: The road through the park is ONE WAY. (12 miles) Once you start,
you must go the whole way to get out. There is NO WATER ANYWHERE in the
park. Which, I found out hiking in the park. (very rough going)
It IS nice...... I saw Big Horn Sheep!
