How many miles did it take for your harmonic balancer to fail,or did yours even fail yet? I have 22,000 miles on my '08 and no problems yet. Just wondering.
My '07 Vert was fine at 30,000 and wobbling enough to replace at 60,000. I would be interested in anyone who has done lots of miles and still has a good balancer. They can't all be failing.
2007 base, replaced the balancer at 25,000 miles. Wobbling enough to make the pulley above it (idler pulley?) shake like crazy. I have a close friend with a 2006 with 49,000 miles and his does not wobble at all.
From: Currently somewhere in IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,AR,MS,AL, or FL
52K 07 and no wobble.
People who have an issue are going to start a thread that they have an issue. People who don't are not going to start a thread that says "I haven't had any problems with my hood hinges. Anyone else not have a problem?" A few harmonic balancers have failed prematurely. The majority will not.
2012 c6
replaced at 6000 miles due to wobble and squeak
Replaced at 6400 miles wobble
The second one was done by a tech with many years of service working mainly on vettes. Car is at 11000 miles now and thst thing is still perfect.
No problem with my balancer yet...22,000 miles, 2010 GS, manual, LS3 built by James Knipp...
Is this something I'm supposed to live in fear of? I'm an HPDE instructor and my car spends a fair amount of time at full throttle and high rpm with no problems...in fact, I really think the car likes being driven in the manner it was built for...
