Default Changing exhaust

When changing your exhaust how much room do you need to pull out your old exhaust with out cutting the pipes. I only found the info for changing exhaust but he had to cut the pipes. I have jack stands and a 2 ton jack with ramps. I have concrete blocks for safety.

I believe the pipe fits in about 3/4 inch. You might have to loosen a few other clamps to move those pipes forward a little. You need to take the four bolts out holding the mufflers up at the rear of the car. It will take a lot of turning back and forth to them lose. You will need about 24 inches of ground clearance to pull the mufflers out.

Not exactly sure how high you need it off the ground, but it can be done with some good jack stands. It is a lot easier if you could get it on a rack.

I found that disconnecting the X or H Pipe (on both ends) gave me the room needed. Otherwise you will sit there for a long time wasting efforts. Disconnecting and reconnecting the pipe only takes a few minutes.

When I did my Akrapovic system a month or so ago, we ended up putting it on a lift and removing the H-pipe. From what I researched (not from what I verified since we lifted it 6.5 feet), you need 36" from the bottom of the car to the ground for the pipes to have enough room to come up over the axles and come out at the downwards angle.

-EDIT-

This was on an '07 Z06. Also watch some of the trans connectors on the right pipe...coming out it can bang against some connectors and going in and can catch on some wiring.

You normally have to drop the rear cradle if you a Z06 or ZR1. The 3" exhaust will not clear.

This might give you some idea - the ramps are 10" but the you can see the driveway slopes away from the end so that certainly helped.
