09 CD & DVD Disk Functioning?

I was wondering if when I am listing to XM or my IPod does the disk in my cd player spin? Same if I have my NAV off does the NAV DVD spin.

CD doesn't spin if not being used. Can't answer on the NAV disk. I would suspect that the NAV disk only spins intermittently as needed, but I don't know.
