Tonight I was driving and the information display came on and said the right rear tire was flat, limit driving speed to under 50MPH and range limit. I stopped and visually checked the tire, I also checked the tire pressure read out in the Information center. Pressure showed 32# tire looked fine. Why the message? What is going on? Bad tire sensor, low battery in sensor? glitch in system?? Anyone have a similar problem? Thanks, JDA
Every now and then mine does this also. It usualy happens when I have parked the car for more than three or four days. It wakes right up and clears out.
Happened once on my 06 vert for about 30 seconds a year ago at the Grand Canyon. Didn't feel flat but maybe they don't but all was well and the DIC has read correctly ever since.

Did the warning turn off when the DIC readout was 32? When the sensor's batteries start to get low you get all sorts of weird things. The sensors won't broadcast at all and you get XXX when you try to check the pressure reading, you get low readings, you get 0 psi readings and then they work fine for a short while.
Something else you need to do is manually check the pressure in all 4 tires since the sensors may not have been programmed into the car correctly. You can't visually tell if a Run Flat tire has air in it since they don't look any different than one that has proper air pressure in it.
After I checked the readout for tire pressure the warning went away and stayed away. I will check the tire pressure manually tomorrow. It is an 06 vet that I just bought. I don't know if the sensor/battery has ever been changed. I know this is the second set of tires. Thanks for the quick feed back. JDa
Probably a weak sensor battery. They are supposed to last 7 - 10 years. One of mine started reporting a flat tire intermittently after 7 years. I replaced all four sensors. No more flat tire messages.
Have the same reading for rear tire, comes on for a few then quickly goes out. Dealership checked calibration or 're-calibrated' and still have issue. Probably best to replace all 4 during upcoming tire change.
I had one of my sensors rebuilt at Discount Tire for $20. No more messages.
I thought 'servicing' these means replacing the o-ring and possibly the valve stem core - otherwise they are sealed. Did they actually replace the battery? Maybe you just had a leaking o-ring.

Leaking o ring is what I had. They are a sealed unit. I started having problems after having new tires installed (not at discount) Discount was closer to work so I stopped in there. They said the installer probably tightened the nut too tight. Sometimes it will crack the sensor. Lucky for me the senor was fine, just needed another o ring. After the repair they reprogramed the sensor with a handheld scanner because it was still showing zero. Neat little gadget that I had not seen before.
If my car is any example, this type of warning is probably very common. Mine does it like Scottys78: "In the summer I get high tire pressure warnings and in the winter I get low tire pressure warnings." And the occasional "tire flat". As long as it clears quickly and I don't get the "Xs" I'm just living with it.

Hey there,
I’m sorry to hear about the concerns you are having regarding your tire. I apologize for this, and I would like to look into this further. Please feel free to PM us with your contact information, VIN, and your preferred dealership name/location. I will keep an eye out for your response!
This will happen all the time. It's characteristic of TPMS. They're an imperfect, and unnecessary technology.
Maybe they're required by law, but, I, too, don't think they are necessary except for people too lazy to check their air pressures on a regular basis. The RF sensor on my C6 was bad from day 1 and all the dealer would do is reprogram it. Finally had it replaced last week and the dealership gave me a break on the part and labor since I had a long track record of a problem with this particular sensor. All in all, though, TPMs are not one of my favorite technologies.
