I thought a Sleeper was a car that most think is slow that is very fast. A corvette probably wouldn't be consider a sleeper as it's base is pretty fast compared to most cars
A "sleeper" would be a car that no one suspects runs 10's, 9's, whatever. Could be a minivan, a Civic, an 11 second Prius. If you want to go fast without the sound? Nitrous or an eForce supercharger. The former makes no sound, the latter makes very little. Any cam swap will change the sound of your exhaust, and if it doesn't, at least in my opinion, definitely isn't worth it for the smallish gains compares to other cams.
Sleepers are the best! One wouldn't think to call a corvette a sleeper but frankly, I'm picked on all the time in the big city. It's about looks more than anything I think. I was in my 2008 Z51 for about 15 minutes on Monday and a guy pulled up in his new Mercedes S65 V12 AMG. Talking smack and arrogant as can be. At the next light his comment was "holy $hit that isn't stock is it". his 631hp didn't even come close. Blower whining, cam jumping....not everyone knows what to listen for I guess.
I think a vette can be a sleeper. You make it look and sound as stock as possible, people will think its a 12 sec car. So if you can run 11's or even 10's, it would be a sleeper. I am looking to stay as "sleeper" as possible, but I did headers which are tough to hide.
I am looking at doing a sanded and smoothed FAST intake, and then a sleeper cam to try and keep the "average guy" from knowing what the car is capable of. I would get in contact with PatG, to have him spec you something. Im sure he can cut something that will sound stock with a 800ish idle but still give 30+ hp.

Love the show. I like their VW that put a Porsche, and a few more to shame. Did you see where the farm truck walked on the vette and they wouldn't pay.
I have an 08 3lt vert that has an eforce and moderate tune. With the npp quiet I call it a sleeper. When you get aggressive with the throttle.. Hold on
I don't wash my CRM real often and then a bit of brake dust dulls the classic 5-spoke chrome wheels. The exhaust tips get rather dirty and I have a trailer hitch too. Keeping the bi-mode mufflers in the quiet zone hides some of the rumble from the headers. Since the cam and all internals have never been touched it idles slow and smooth. Being fairly old (72) with mostly gray on the few remaining hairs add to the first impression. My racing buddy uses a cane occasionally, so I'm considering taking a walker along to stroll through the pits together.
Then with a quick change of wheels I pull up to the line and rip off some 10's on the unsuspecting competition. Great fun.
Sweet baby Jesus... Didnt look like a 154 mph moving down the track at all. Sounded at idle a run of the mill cammed Z running a 130 mph pass....
Sleeper as farm truck? No, not at all but 154 is booking it.
Your driving ability can keep you in stock form being a sleeper, I'd imagine ported and milled headsCAI+Ported 102/102 TB+tune+NT05R tires on C5Z wheels and some light weight mods can make the average Z capable of hitting 10s pretty easily with a good driver. But I'm talking Z power which I don't consider a sleeper at all from the factory.
Corvette being a sleeper is a tough call. Calling any c6z a sleeper is really tough.
I've tried to keep mine from being an obnoxious race car. The NPP mufflers help a ton but headers, cam, heads, blower most people realize its not stock. Being a narrow body car helps too. You get the "Oh it isn't a ZOh/GS"
Headers and x pipe. NPP mufflers with mild2wild switch. Throttle remap and motor tune. Cam with good low and midrange torque. Lower gears and higher stall converter or better clutch setup.
