Default engine heat?

I had my 08 vert out the other night & felt warm air down by the heating vents. Heat was off. Was that just engine heat? Also, noticed that after a 20 min cruise the engine compartment is really hot, no smoke or any issues , should i be concerned, or is that normal? I've only had the car a couple of months & i am loving every minute of it.

Sounds normal but really need more details, under the hood gets pretty hot any way you can take some temp readings for comparison?

Car should run coolant in the 200-215 deg range + or - demending on ambient air temp. If you are on the hot side, check the radiator opening. Vettes are bottom breathers and can suck up garbage from the road and block air flow to the radiator.

Unless it's cool or a little cold outside, your going to get some warm air coming through without the AC on.

It's ridiculous that GM didn't install proper heat insulation along the driveline tunnel all the way from the firewall to the end of the trunk. I have heard that having the recirculate option ON will evacuate some of that heat away from your legs but haven't tried it out yet.
