Hello. I hope someone on the Forum can assist me with my problem. I want to convert the seats in my 2009 coupe to the 2012 conversion seats. I have the upgraded seat foam (purchased from Leatherseats.com in OKC) and was hoping to get a local auto upholstery shop to make the seat skins and install (in an attempt to save some money since the firm in OKC is rather pricey). The problem is that the local upholsterer cannot use the 2009 seat skins as a pattern since the 2012 seats' form is so different and making up the skins without benefit of a patter is a rather formidable (and expensive) task. I know several folks on the Forum have the 2012 Conversion seats installed in their Vette. If you did not buy from the OKC firm, will you tell me where you purchased your seat package and, if a 2012 seat template is available, where can I purchase same? I asked the firm in OKC about purchasing the template, but I was told I could not make such a purchase since it is a "proprietary" item. I would really appreciate some information and assistance. Thanks!!
I think the OP is just wanting the 'pattern' to get the seat covers made locally.
I don't see any forum vendors selling him just that pattern, as most of them probably don't even have it if they are selling OEM seat covers from GM.
A vendor like DSV who makes their owns seat covers would have the pattern, but I don't see them making it available.
The OP is probably going to have to come up with a used set of OEM seat covers to get a pattern from them.
I think you are correct...that's what I'm going to have to do. I need to find a 2012 that has had problems and then I can use the seat skins to make a pattern...color does not matter...it's the seat form which I need. I tried Corvette mods, but they don't offer the two tone combination that I want. I haven't had much luck dealing with Mr. Culley. I am about ready to just give up and keep the original 2009 seats...they are is great shape...I just like the "look" of the 2012 better.
Thanks for reading my post and commenting. I have looked at and studied your pictures of your seat conversion...that's what inspired me initially.
THANK YOU! I just visited the site and posed my question about the availability of my two tone choice. I think this is the site that will help me. I appreciate your supplying the link and assisting me. That's why I love the Forum...Vette people are knowledgeable and willing to help one another.
I got the skins from Partstaxi but as posted above they are no longer in business.
Gene should be able to help you out.
Just be aware that the Letherseats.com provides better quality than Gooberment Motors. You get what you pay for. But my interior guy told me that if you dont take care of them priperly even better materials will not hold up for long.
There is a lengthy thread on this conversion on this forum which should give you all the info you need.
I had my interior guy install the GM skins and I am happy with them and recommend this upgrade.
I'm pretty sure that PartsTaxi is no longer in business. Kevin Cassimore who ran it for Lewes Chevrolet is no longer working there as far as I know.
"PartsTaxi" hasn't posted anything since February.
Maybe they will get someone else for his position to keep it going?
That's too bad. I was always very pleased with the service (much better than I received from the other vendor). They provided exactly the seat conversion combination I wanted quickly and at a very reasonable price.
Sorry about posting link. Since I finished my interior a while ago, I haven't had to order anything and wasn't aware they weren't in business anymore.
