Wondering if anyone know why occasionally when I enter my 2006 corvette with my fob the bell rings as if I left the lights on or something. It does this maybe twice a week. Can't figure out why.

Mine occasionally does the same thing and I never have figured out why sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't.
Let me clarify my earlier post. When you leave the car, and it thinks you have left a fob in the car, it will beep at you to let you know. When you get back into the car after, say overnight or only 10 minutes even, it still thinks the fob is in the car, and will chime to let you know.
Try this experiment. Get in the car and start it. Roll the windows down. Shut off car. Exit car with the fob on the center console or seat. Shut door. Car will honk to let you know the fob is still inside. Reach in and take fob. Car may or may not auto lock. Leave the vicinity of the car for 10 minutes. Come back and open the driver's door. You will now hear a chime.
Some cars have a wider range where they sense the fob, and even if the fob is actually outside the car, it may think it still inside, and it is not smart enough to know the fob is not in the car. It only checks this at the moment the door closes.

Because you do not get out of the car and close the door exactly the same way every time. In a narrow garage, people will get out and then be very close to the car when they close the door....this is the most common scenario. The car looks for the fob when the door closes, and if the fob is in the pocket closest to the car and you are standing close to the door, the car will mistakenly think the fob is still in the car. The car will then ding ding when you next open the door. If you just stand slightly further away at the moment the door closes, this will not happen.

This sounds like a possibility. I park my car next to my work bench so it's a tight squeeze to get out.
So what exactly does the dinging mean? Is it telling you that you left a fob in the car last time? To open the door it would have to detect a fob outside the car, so does it now think two fobs are present?
After thinking about this, the car would open the door if it detected a fob inside the car.

Yes, it is telling you that it thinks you left a fob in the car last time....why this would be useful, I have no idea. I don't lock my car in my garage so I don't know about the door lock angle on this. As was said above, try stepping back just a little when you close the door for a week or so...I'll bet no dinging.

Because you left your light switch on? This from page 3-16 of a 2008 owner's manual:
A warning chime will sound if the exterior lamp control is left on in either the headlamp or parking lamp position and the driver's door is opened with the ignition off.
It doesn't say that this only happens when you get out if the car. To me it seems to happen when I get back in the car too. Due to the Twilight Sentinel the lights themselves won't be on but the switch will.
