I just read in another thread that a member with a '08 manual trans car push started his car when his starter went out.
I wasn't sure you could push start a fuel injected car.
Any special technique other than ignition on and pop the clutch once you get up a little speed?

That's it...but there has to be some juice in the battery...otherwise it will be a looooong push.
i've never push started a vette, but i've definitely push started other fuel injected cars. Even a porsche 911 a number of years back. Should work the same way. but need to make sure the power is in the on position. i think pushing the start button with the clutch out will get you where you need to be.
When i did it... My friend pushed the vette and reached ~5mph. Was in 1st gear the whole time with my clutch depressed. I was also in the "On" position on the start button. As soon as i reached the maximum speed we can push on foot, i let go of the clutch and gave gas but it didn't start. I was still rolling but slower. Oddly enough i tried again rolling at a slower speed, popped the clutch again, gave gas and it fired up.
Press and hold the bottom of the starter button in (ACC) for about 20 seconds and the car will go into full on/Run mod without kicking over the starter.
At this point, the car can now be push bump started.

You have to have enough power to run the BCM and ECM computers. Since the ECM computer controls the alternator, you can't just turn the engine over to turn the alternator to generate enough power to charge the battery to get the power to run the ECM. But it you have enough power left in the battery to run the computers before you start pushing then push starting is possible. Get it moving with clutch in and 1st or 2nd gear, push start button, quickly let out clutch, and hope the starter motor load is reduced enough to not kill the battery which would stop the computers.
But if the battery is totally dead it will never work because you can't run the ECM to run the alternator to charge the battery.
sooooooooo do you have to hit the start button while you pop the clutch or just let out the clutch like on a quad or dirt bike with the ignition on acc/
