I had one just like that on my C5, but it was a Black Wing. It worked OK, but yes, there was a little interference with the hood closing. It would close, but visibly distorted the hood.
I paid about $160 from West Coast Corvettes in 2005 or so. It has to be cleaned and oiled every once in a while, and I understand that the oil can foul the mass airflow sensor. And, my gas mileage dropped a couple mpg with it.
I wouldn't buy one again, and certainly not at that price. Check out WCC's website ... they're a forum vendor ... and see if they still sell Black Wings.
You shouldn't have any issues with the hood. That style will require you to cut the radiator shroud. Looks very similar to mine - which I bought from Lingenfelter and they installed it (install was around $100 3 years ago) and well worth it for me
I have one and there is no hood problems on my 2005 c6. I also don't oil the filter. I used to ride dirt bikes and had some with removeable spunge foam around the filter that I lightly oiled to keep dirt and dust out of the filter and cleaned after every ride. The AFE filter hasn't caused my gas mileage to be lower.
I have a c6 and yes that's what I heard the hood wouldn't close well
Is it that bad
Mine mounted and fit in place well. Its just that the hood would contact the filter about 1.5" before the hood latched. The instructions I received didn't mention any modification to the shroud and I don't think it would have made a difference in my case. I installed an Airaid and it fit perfectly.

If you don't cut the shroud you will not get outside air. You are simply recycling the hot air in the engine compartment ... which means it is not a cold air intake. In that instance - you're probably better off with the stock air intake system.

And YES - it is a true cold air intake !
ONLY if you cut the shroud. Nothing said about that from what I read.
From: Currently somewhere in IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,AR,MS,AL, or FL
"Easy installation" indicates it does not cut the shroud. Without cutting the shroud you will gain absolutely nothing whether or not you can get the hood closed.
Well thanks to everyone for there input
I geuss I'll stay away doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble if it doesn't fit right I'll look at some others
Sooooooo, many CAI systems out there ,, that should be called, H.A.I [HOT AIR INTAKE]
And ya be better off saving your money and just add a good flowing air filter to stock unit.
