So, I'm 2 months into my first Corvette. Came with a Bose audio system. 2009. Very underwhelmed. Bass was good, but highs were almost non-existent. Read a little with mixed reviews about the benefits of swapping only the speakers. Ended up swapping my rears, doors, and middle for Pioneer A series speakers. VERY worth it! Highs are back and it sounds pretty darn good. $125 or so invested and maybe 2 hours time, max. It doesn't get quite as loud as I would like with top down and 70+ mph, but it'll do. I'm happy now. 2 thumbs up.
glad you like your setup! I"ve been thinking about speakers off and on since I got the car seven years ago! still haven't done anything. truth is, I don't listen to music all that much when the top's down so I guess it's just a waste of money, more or less, for me.

So that's all you did was swap the speakers ,I thought theses Bose speakers came with built in Amps.

I need to do that too. I've got a Kenwood head unit, but still the factory non-Bose speakers. And they are really crappy.
How did you get the door panels off and access the rear speakers? And the front dash speaker? Is there a tutorial on here somewhere about replacing speakers without tearing up the door panels, etc.? I have no idea how to do such a thing.

The rear speakers just have four little bolts that hold them in. Easily accessible. The center speaker cover pops off with a plastic pry tool. You could likely use a butter knife just fine. Once in, it and the door speakers have the same 4 bolts to remove to get the speakers out.

Agree - hardly ever listen to the thing...run with the exhaust open...wind in my hair (at least what's left of it...) However, sounds like those new speakers made for a sweet setup
Here is what I have done to my 05 Bose System - the plan is to do a complete HU along with my BA components and RE Audio 10's with my Sundowner amps - just haven't decided to tackle it yet. But in the interim and without breaking the bank the changes mentioned below have made the Bose system a lot better and bearable to listen to. I did this a while back but you should still be able to find something comparable.
You can buy the GM speaker connections that leaves all the wiring OEM but I can't find where I ordered them from.
- Disconnected the Front Speaker on the dash (this made a noticeable difference)
Replaced the small door speakers with JL Audio - C2 350x Coaxial Replaced the Rear Speakers with JL Audio - C2 525x Coaxial
