A decent bit of rust and wear has formed on the rims of my 2007. I've tried using TurtleWax chrome and metal cleaner on both rags and a drill-bit based brush, but was unsuccessful in getting it off. The dealer said that the rims would need to be dipped to restore them. Is there a cheaper cleaning alternative that I can try to restore my rims? Something that worked on the tailpipes as well would be great. Thanks!

Rust? On stock wheels? Almost impossible since rust forms on iron/steel and all OEM wheels are aluminum.
The chrome plating on OEM wheels is very thin and can be worn away with powered brushes and chrome cleaner. If your wheels weren't chrome then you destroyed them by using chrome cleaner on them since they are painted. They will have to be stripped and repainted.
OEM exhaust tips are Stainless Steel and chrome cleaner will work on them if they are really bad but under normal conditions you don't need to use chrome cleaner the tips.
