Default average speed indicator on DIC

What does yours say and how often do you reset it? I just looked and mine says 26.9. Not been on the highway in weeks but this still seems low! I've never reset it, but I'll be checking it more often now!!

Re-set and record every fillup (and keep the receipts). Too many years on expense account and then self employed income tax forms.

Same here. I record a few things at each fill up. Average mph, average mpg and distance driven.

Mine says my average speed is below 30mph. I'm guessing the calculator also takes into account time spent idling at a stop light or in a parking lot while the engine is running. I do most of my driving at 55mph +, so this is the only thing I can think of. How often do I reset it? Never, unless I'm going on a long trip.

I only reset it once in awhile when I want to check my mileage for a trip and see what my average speed was...

"Average Speed" has got to be the most worthless thing shown on any driver information device. It averages all the time the engine is running, including idling at stop lights and in parking lots.
If there is any practical usefulness, please enlighten me!

It correlates pretty well with fuel consumption and mpg.

Just another reference point with understanding mpg.

Not necessarily. It could tell you why your mpg is what it is.

I think it's been at least a hundred thousand miles since mine has been reset (or since the last battery change?) I forgot it was even an option to look at.
