What tires are recommended for daily driving from April to October in Michigan? What brands are best for lower noise and longest life? Are run flats critical?
Any brand you feel comfortable with should be okay with the summer months you're talking about. I personally don't think runflats are critical unless you have a long history of flats. I don't. I ditched my OEM GY runflats when they wore out at around 9,800 miles - I'm on my second set of non-runflats (currently Michelin Pilot Super Sports) and have not had any issues at all...

Good luck!
with that being said I carry, plug kit, small compressor and tire sealant / inflator in the car.
Ikernen, I went to www.tirerack.com and looked through the reviews for the different brands of tires. There are quite a few that have very good reviews, Bridgestone, Firestone, Michelin to name a few. I narrowed them down to a few, went to the tire shop, and chose the ones that was the best price. In my case that ended up being the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500's. I went with the non run flats for a better ride, and as said above just carry a tire repair kit if needed. Or call a roll back if it's worse. The chances of a flat are slim, and with the difference in the price between the run flats and the non I can call a couple roll backs.
Today I received (UPS) my set of Hankooks for my GS. Nice looking tire, along with positive reviews from users. The tires feel soft & sticky so we'll see how they perform soon. First I have to wear out my GoodYears (fun) - it's nice to have a set of tires 'on deck'.
