6 CD "read error" problem

6 CD "read error" problem
I got a 2006 Convert with a 6 disc CD player. When I insert a known good CD's I get the "read error" message & the CD's eject. The car is new to me so I have no history. I have found posts that say probably a bad player unit. Do I repair this or replace with a new Pioneer from Crutchfield?

Did you try a CD cleaning disk....replacing is your decision.
OEM would be plug and play and I believe there is a program for exchange/ rebuild units available.
Pioneer may be a better unit, yet I do not have any insight as to the ease of installation. More info may be in this Forum's stereo sub-section.
