Diff fluid change question

Diff fluid change question
I know the sticky says to run the car up to 10 mph for one minute then recheck the fluid level. My z is on jack stands, and I don't feel comfortable at all starting it and running it up to 10 mph. Sooooo, could I spin the wheels by hand for a few minutes? 10 mph isn't that fast, didn't know if anyone tried this..................I know I could take the car for a spin and recheck as well, but getting this car in the air is a pain..............

Are you trying to change or check the level? If the latter, I guess you could do that for awhile. And if it really is recomm. for only a minute I guess it's ok for fluid change, too. I thought the reason was to get it warm and distributed to all the parts so that A) it's the correct operational level, and B) it's warmed up and flows best to drain as much as possible.

I don't remember the manual saying to do this. All I did was fill it back up to the point that fluid was leaking back out the fill hole, then went out to do some figure 8's. That was 3 years ago and it's still no chatter.

I have a GS and changed the diff. fluid. I had it on a lift and DID start and run it for 3-5 minutes. I believe the reason for doing that is to get rid of any air lower in the system and to get the oil to the oil cooler. After checking the fluid again I did have to add more to get to the proper level. I would recommend doing it.
