Default Just a quick question.

I just cleaned the contacts on my door handles and my electrical system went haywire. I hooked up a tender before I started and had the doors open for maybe a half an hour along with the hood (05 with light). As I was finishing, the hatch popped open for no reason. I then climbed inside and DIC said no fob detected. Aftrr a couple tries it recognized the fob, I started the car and let it idle for couple minutes. The hatch then closed and all appears ok now.

Is this normal if a battery is getting low? Maybe need a new battery? Thanks.

A low battery can cause many electrical issues. The best bet is to have a load test done on it. Most auto parts stores will do it with no charge.

You would think that the interior light would time out and shut off. Guess the engineers forgot that feature on our cars.

Had the same thing happen several years ago when I had the doors open for an extended period of time while doing interior mods. Recharged the battery with my tender and the problem vanished.

The tender is a great idea but it does not put out enough current to compensate for the draw from all the things that happen when a door is left open for a long time. A low battery can certainly cause many weird issues.

All lights do time out after about 15-20 minutes.
