I have an 09 A6 and my problem is the piece of plastic that acts as the button that you depress to get the car in and out of park has a tip that has broken off and has fallen off, my question is can this plastic piece just be replaced or will it be the whole unit replacement?? TIA for any info!

You can actually pull the silver top off of the shifter really easily. Then you can see that the button pretty much just sits in there and is secured by the silver top. If you can't find just the replacement piece (which I bet your local dealer probably could) you may be able to easily rig something up that would even be more durable.
