I bought a Corvette from Community Chevrolet in Burbank,CA 2 weeks ago; when I test drove it it had nice emblem floor mats firmly attached in it(I always check since I have a Lexus and they paid Billions because of mats getting under gas pedals) I did all the paperwork including the sheet that says "I agree that the dealer owes me nothing and the car is as is" iti is a 2012 with 8 thousand miles.
They ran back to wash the car and handed me the keys and I drove home. When I got home, no floor mats OR sun shade for the back; both dissappeared while being "washed" I have called and emailed and finally the General Manager said that I signed that paper and goodbye!!!!! Can you imagine a Chevy dealer screwing you out of floor mats just because some employee stole them and he doesn't want to replace them?????
So I ordered a NEW cover for the back to keep the sun out right away from a company in Riverside,CA(60 miles away from me) I realize today I never got a tracking number. I called them; they were out of stock; should have tomorrow, should have next week;;;I cancelled the order!!!!!! Are Corvette people a different breed???? The salesman at Community Chevrolet said they had sold 80 C7's because they allocations from snowed in dealers last winter????
I am a dissapointed First Corvette owner???
First rule of Corvette ownership, Never, I repeat never, go to a dealer for Anything, EVER...
Well, the drivers mirror did not go up and down; the dealer let me drive it home 100 miles with a floppy mirror; ordered what turned out to be the WRONG part and DIDN"T Fedex it to me until 4 days later..now I am waiting for a complete mirror at MY dealer which has to be painted and then installed; at Community Chevrolet they did not catch that in their 172 point check, no did they catch a low tire, and many other petty things and they just had the car 3 days...they just Armoralled the interior and put it out for sale!!!! YUP, have to go back to a dealer......
That really hurts to lose a new car for 6 weeks; I have hopes of mine at lease safe to drive with a mirror next week!!!
yeah, at the time I told them to just give me a clear top to put on the car until they got the new panel in and painted, they said no we can't do that. So they paid for a rental car for 6 weeks, plus I got GM to give me $1500 for loss of use of my vehicle.
A clear top would have been a cheap option, no wonder they went bankrupt.

Is that the 1LT I saw for sale?
At any rate, I know many people have problems with that particular dealer and they were total ***holes last time I had a family member go there attempting to buy a truck. I generally agree with the not going to dealership ("stealership") but we all know there are certain things you just have to do. I had a pretty good experience at AutoNation Chevrolet up in Valencia, CA when I bought it, but I haven't had my car serviced there yet so I can't speak for their service department.
I hope next week is a better week for you. What kind of cover? I've heard good things about Cal Car Covers in the San Fernando Valley as an FYI.

Yes, Sadly it is the 1lt; they really roughed me up before screwing me...
Regarding your experience ordering the back cover.. Buy, borrow or steal as much patience as you can before doing a lot of aftermarket accessory purchasing........or you will go nuts...

Ain't it the truth brother, ain't it the truth..........
The only aftermarket company I have had good service from is American Muscle when ordering stuff for the Wifey's Mustang GT. Don't do me a bit of good for the Vette though.
dctex, the wash kids probably didn't put the mats, and cover back in after the wash. And, the guy you talked too was just too dayum lazy to walk out to the shop and look. Pretty sorry. I would give the Better Business Bureau a call just to make 'em squirm.

Ordering car parts is still like ordering stuff back in the 90's from the back of a magazine (unless you order from Amazon). They'll swear up and down they have them in stock, then just as you give them their money, oops, last one must have gone out the door.
Most aftermarket car suppliers are gear heads, and many are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Combine that with drop shipping being the norm means lots of frustrated customers. The best way to end it is to stop shopping at places that drop ship.
Other than your dealer experience, long distance (meaning, not in your home town), you are e-tailing, not retailing. And that is the difference.
When you go into a store for retailing, even a car parts store, if it isn't in stock, you see it and hear it. If they say they'll have it in X days, and they don't, you go in or you call. Face to face. They, and you can't avoid that.
Now, it's e-tailing which means most of the time, you have no idea if it's in their "store" (if they even have a store), on the way and ordered, being drop shipped to you by the mfr., drop shipped by the importer to you, or the company has a bad credit rep w. the supplier, mfr., or importer which means it could take extra days or weeks. Why? Because the e-tailer has to send the money---first. And some have no money until they get buyers to pay in advance. So your part? Waits.
You may have gotten a deal on the car, but their not being closeby makes it a "forgettable" incident to them. And they are on to the next sale, not the last one. Some of your savings thus goes to floormats and a shade/cover. That's the way it is.
When I purchased my 2008 C6 I understood that I was not getting a top tier car.
What I was getting though was the best bang for the buck performance car.
I treat it like it can break anytime and avoid the stealership like the plague.
Near 7 years and 32,000 miles later all is well.
I would not of purchased the car if was to be a daily driver.
Fun car that I love to drive. I believe the LS3 to be a stout motor and think the weakness lies in the quality of design and parts for the rest of the car.
Where else can you get this level of performance in a good looking design.
I have the usually quirks but have suffered no mechanical breakdowns yet.
Fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

I will agree mostly with one exception.
Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista, CA. Fair prices, great service and a team of Corvette mechanics that I will put up against anyone on the planet. They also do a lot to help the Corvette Community.

I hope that is the case, but the slimy people at Community Chevrolet sure left a bad taste in my mouth for my first Corvette. I should have walked when I found out they lied on their ad about it having Blue Tooth!!!!
I'm just a common Vette owner and sorry to hear about the calamities you have been experiencing with Community Chevrolet and possibly other vendors.
But, I must admit and in all fairness to some of the other reputable vendors, ie: forum vendors and other Corvette parts places, I have not had to deal with any negative or other similar bad experiences.
So far, knock on wood, all the vendors that I have crossed paths with, I haven't experienced any negative ones.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
