Shifter problem
Just thought I'd say how great this forum is. I took my c6 to pick up my son from school today, on his second day, traffic at the beginning of the school year is always aweful around the school. I waited for about 40 minutes, left the car running. Finally there was my son. He hopped in the car and i put it in gear....so I thought. She wouldn't engage drive or any gear for that matter! Called my wife, she left her job and rescued us. In the time it took us to drive home I had looked on this site (on my phone) and found info on the problem. Jumped in my truck and headed back with tools. Luckily by that time school traffic had thinned out. Took the console apart, removed shifter, and sure enough....little plastic shift linkage had melted and come apart, letting the shifter unsnap from the cable to the tranny. Our local auto parts place just happened to have the part, around $5! Got it fixed and goes in gear again. Thank goodness for this wonderful site and those who take the time to post their solutions to the occasional issues!
